ARLINGTON, Tex. — Texas Rangers third baseman Steve Buechele was placed on the 15-day disabled list, effective today, because of continuing soreness in his right wrist, the team announced.
The Rangers filled Buechele’s roster spot by calling up third baseman Scott Coolbaugh from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Buechele sustained a broken right wrist when he was hit by a pitch from Eric Plunk of the New York Yankees on April 21. He spent more than a month on the disabled list and was reactivated May 25. But he continued to experience pain and weakness in the wrist.
In 23 games since returning from the DL, Buechele hit .149 with three RBI. Buechele’s overall average is .194 with three homers and 10 RBI in 35 games.
