The NHL passed a rule to make sure it won’t have another controversy like the one surrounding rookie of the year Sergei Makarov of the Calgary Flames.
Only players under 26 years old will be eligible for the award. Makarov, 32, played 11 seasons with the Central Red Army before joining the Flames.
