Second baseman Paul Molitor of the Milwaukee Brewers will miss at least four to six weeks after tests taken Monday revealed a broken knuckle on his left index finger.

Molitor sustained the injury Saturday night at Cleveland when he bumped into Indian first baseman Brook Jacoby.

Molitor was placed on the 21-day disabled list and will undergo further examination today to determine the extent of the injury. Molitor started the season on the disabled list with a broken right thumb.

Since being activated, he has batted .291 in 46 games with seven home runs and 25 runs batted in.

The Brewers recalled Dale Sveum from their triple-A farm club in Denver to take Molitor’s spot on the roster. Sveum hit .184 in 15 games with the Brewers earlier this season. At Denver, he has batted .257 in 29 games.
