$150 Million Urged in U.S. Metro Rail Funds
- Share via
A key House subcommittee recommended Tuesday that Congress appropriate $150 million for construction of Los Angeles’ Metro Rail project in the 1991 fiscal year.
The figure is $10 million more than the subway system received in federal funds this year but $35 million less than Mayor Tom Bradley requested in April.
The recommendation now goes to the full House Appropriations Committee.
The appropriation is part of the $667 million Congress has authorized toward construction of the second phase of Metro Rail, which will run from downtown Los Angeles to North Hollywood.
The money will help construct a 6.7-mile portion of the line, extending from Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street west to Western Avenue and Wilshire and north to Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Hollywood.
