2 Teachers Share $12,000 GTE Grant
Gwendolyn Walker, a mathematics teacher at Emerson Junior High School in Pomona, and Jenny Miles, a science teacher at the school, have won a $12,000 grant from GTE Corp.’s Growth Initiative for Teachers program.
The grants are awarded to teams of math and science teachers who submit proposals to collaborate on improvement plans for their schools.
The grants provide $7,000 for the school improvement plan and $5,000 for the team’s two teachers to use toward professional development. In all, the corporation awarded grants 50 nationwide.
