A San Diego man was shot to death, reportedly after arguing with his attacker early Wednesday morning.

“We received a report of shots being fired in the vicinity of 29th Street and Imperial Avenue around 1:30 Wednesday morning,” San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

When officers arrived at the intersection, they found the body of Billy C. Helton, 30, lying on the sidewalk, Robinson said.

Witnesses told police they had seen Helton arguing with another man minutes before the shooting, Robinson said. Witnesses heard shots and saw the other man drive away in a dark-color car, he said.
