The California Horse Racing Board approved a proposal to build a $40-million race track and equestrian center in Riverside County.
The track, which would be the first built in California in more than 40 years, must be approved by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
Plans call for construction to begin early next year, with the track opening in October of 1992, according to Edward Allred, president of Golden West Racing Assn., which plans to construct the track north of Norco.
