Ferry’s Deal Could Grow to $34 Million
Rookie Danny Ferry’s contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers will pay him at least $14 million over the next five years, but could ultimately become a 10-year, $34-million deal, the Akron Beacon Journal reported Thursday.
Ferry, the former Duke star who played professionally in Italy last season, signed with the Cavaliers earlier this month. The newspaper said Ferry got a $1-million signing bonus and an annual salary beginning at $2 million and escalating to $3.3 million in the fifth year.
Either party can get out of the contract at that point under certain conditions. If the deal continues, Ferry could get $4 million for each of the ensuing five years.
