Abandoned Baby Found by Passerby
A man on his way to get a pizza found an abandoned newborn girl Friday in National City, police said.
The baby, who appeared to be about an hour old, was wrapped in a blanket and left next to a trash bin at the Pizza Hut restaurant, 2030 Highland Ave., said Sgt. Gene Ciolli.
A customer who had just parked his car saw the baby’s leg sticking out from beside the trash bin about 4:30 p.m., and notified the restaurant manager, Ciolli said. The baby appeared to be healthy and was in stable condition Friday night at Paradise Valley Hospital, a nursing supervisor said. The girl is described as white with brown hair.
National City police are asking anyone who might have information about the infant or its mother to call them.
