BOWLING / RIVERSIDE PBA TOURNAMENT : Palombi Is Seeded No. 1 for Final
Ron Palombi Jr. travels the pro bowling tour in a van with 22 bowling balls and one basketball.
Had he not been busy with the bowling balls Friday, “I probably would have been out on a local playground shooting baskets,”the 6-foot-3 Pennsylvanian said at Town Square Lanes in Riverside.
But Palombi, 26, was busy all right. He defeated 11 of 16 opponents in match play and gained the No. 1 seeded position for today’s championship in the $145,000 Kessler PBA Tournament. The final will be televised at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Palombi averaged 224 for the 42 games leading to the final.
The other four finalists in their order behind Palombi are Danny Wiseman, Randy Pedersen, Wayne Webb and Warren Nelson.
