New School Board President

Share

Inglewood school board member Lois Hill Hale replaced Larry Aubry as board president Wednesday, defeating the outspoken Zyra McCloud for the post.

McCloud argued that the one-year board presidency in the Inglewood Unified School District should rotate among the five members. Hill Hale has already been president, whereas McCloud, a parent activist elected in 1987, has never been despite being the board’s senior member.

But Hill Hale was elected president on a 4-1 vote, with McCloud’s only vote coming from herself. Hill Hale pledged to gather input from her colleagues and work toward reducing divisiveness among board members.
