L.A. County Spending Priorities
My lifelong friend, Robbyn Panitch, a county mental health social worker, was killed in February, 1989, in her office at a county facility--a killing which could have been prevented had Robbyn been granted funding for the minimal security measures she and her colleagues had repeatedly requested from the same conservative majority on the Board of Supervisors who just voted $500,000 in taxpayer money simply to save their own political hides (June 29).
This is an outrage. Just think of what even a fraction of that amount might have meant for the desperately needy county mental health system--and for Robbyn’s life.
