Police are investigating the homicide of a man who was shot dead in a city apartment complex early Wednesday, apparently during an attempted robbery.
The identity of the victim, who was described as a Latino male in his early 20s, remained unknown.
His body was found on the second-floor balcony of an apartment in the 1700 block of McKinley Avenue.
Police said the slaying occurred at about 8 a.m., when two men attempted to rob another man in the apartment complex. Someone fired a shotgun blast, police said, hitting the victim. Several suspects immediately fled the area, police said.
It was unclear whether the shotgun was wielded by the suspected thieves, an intended victim or a third party, according to investigators.
