BUENA PARK : Suspects Arrested Near Burglary Scene

Share

Awakened by noises in the living room, a Buena Park man got up just in time to see his front door close early Sunday.

Gone were his wallet and his television set.

By the time Michael A. Vialpando put on his clothes to give chase, the thieves had disappeared.

So he called police to his home in the 7200 block of 8th Street about 2:30 a.m., Lt. Bill Cox said.

A short time later at a nearby apartment complex, a Buena Park police officer stopped two men who were behaving suspiciously beside a parked car. Cox said Officer James Banks discovered a wallet belonging to the burglary victim and a wad of cash on the ground near the two men.

After questioning, Cox said one of the men led officers to an apartment in the complex, where they recovered Vialpando’s television set and his missing credit cards.

Arrested on suspicion of burglary were Refulio Ortiz Guapo, 22, of Garden Grove and Rogelio Ramos, 22, who had been living in the apartment on 8th Street in Buena Park.

Both were being held Sunday in the Orange County Jail, Cox said.

Vialpando could not be reached for comment Sunday, but Cox said that about $50 in cash was returned to him, along with his TV and credit cards.

Police said the burglars apparently took the screen off an open window to enter Vialpando’s house.
