THE SIDELINES : Son of Former QB Cuozzo Killed
The son of former NFL quarterback Gary Cuozzo was robbed, killed and dumped in a public park in broad daylight after arranging to purchase a kilo of cocaine, police said.
The body of Gary Cuozzo, 22, of College Park, Md., was identified by police Tuesday, a day after his slaying, for which two young men were arrested.
Cuozzo’s father, an orthodontist in Middletown, N.J., played for the Baltimore Colts, Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinals in the 1960s and ‘70s. He was to travel to Miami to confirm the identification.
Luis Beltran, 19, and Charles Alpern, 24, were arrested in the case and charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
