Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a Ojai man Tuesday night who said he was bitten by a woman in a dispute over her dog.

Robin Tibbetts, 37, who lives in a rural community behind The Wheel Tavern on Maricopa Highway, told officers that his neighbor’s Doberman pinscher came after his wife, Tamra, in a threatening manner and had earlier scared his 13-year-old son.

Tibbetts said he took the dog to the Ventura County Humane Society’s shelter in Ojai and when he returned home, he was allegedly attacked by the dog’s owner.

“She jumped me and bit me,” Tibbetts said, showing alleged teeth marks on his back to Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Russ.

After talking with the unidentified woman, her husband and the Tibbetts, Russ said that neither party wished to press charges. He advised the Tibbetts to call animal regulation authorities or the police if there were any more problems with dogs running free in the neighborhood.
