Celtics Hire Casey as Assistant
Don Casey, fired as coach of the Clippers after last season, was hired Monday as an assistant by the Boston Celtics.
Casey joins the staff of Chris Ford, a former Celtic assistant who was named coach after Jimmy Rodgers was fired following the season.
Casey, 53, replaced Gene Shue as the Clippers’ coach on Jan. 19, 1989, and served until the end of last season. The Clippers were 41-85 under Casey, including 30-52 last season, when they finished sixth in the Pacific Division.
