Schwartz Wins Scratch Main Event
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the four-lap scratch main event in front of 6,850 in the weekly Speedway motorcycle program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa Friday.
Mike Faria of Colton was second, Lance King of Huntington Beach third and Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano fourth.
Schwartz and King came out of the gate together but King slipped off his racing line in the second lap, allowing Schwartz to take the lead and Faria to move to second. Schwartz won by three bike-lengths.
Oxley won the eight-lap handicap main event. King was second, Tony Bienert of Hesperia third, Andy Northrup of Ontario fourth and Faria fifth.
Harley Hall of Gardena won the four-lap, third-division race.
