Strings Beat Dukes in Team Tennis Play
The Los Angeles Strings defeated the Newport Beach Dukes, 28-22, in a Team Tennis match Friday night at the Forum.
The Strings (7-1) were led by Nick Brown and and John Lloyd. Brown defeated Roger Smith in men’s singles, 6-5, and Brown teamed with Lloyd to defeat Marty Davis and Roger Smith in men’s doubles, 6-3.
Lloyd then teamed with Robin White in mixed doubles to defeat Davis and Sophie Amiach, 6-5, to clinch the match for the Strings, who are in first place in the West Division.
The Dukes (6-3) won only one match, when Amy Frazier defeated White in women’s singles, 6-4.
