Girl, 14, Fatally Shot in Pomona
A 14-year old girl was fatally shot and her brother and boyfriend were seriously wounded in an apparent gang-related shooting when their car stopped for traffic signal in Pomona Friday evening, police reported.
Maryann Ayala was driving the auto and the two others were passengers when two to four other youths who had apparently followed them from from a convenience store pulled alongside in a car and started firing, Pomona Police Lt. Joe Romero said.
The girl, her brother, Armando Ayala, 17, who was seated in the rear, and her boyfriend, Daniel Salazar, 18, who was in the passenger seat, all were hit in the left side, Romero said.
There was no immediate indication whether the girl or the other victims were gang members.
