An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 sharply jolted the northern Iranian town of Rudbaon on Monday, more than month after a quake killed 40,000 people in the region. There was no immediate report of damage or injuries.

More than 2,000 aftershocks have shaken the region since the devastating June 21 earthquake, which registered 7.3. That quake also left 60,000 injured and rendered half a million homeless in the northern provinces of Gilan and Zanjan.
