Lukas Aims at 3rd Sanford Stakes
Trainer D. Wayne Lukas will be seeking his third Sanford Stakes winner in the last six years Wednesday when his entry of Formal Dinner and Radio Daze heads a field of 10 colts and geldings.
The six-furlong race features a purse of $92,100, with $55,260 going to the winner.
Lukas won the Sanford last year with Bite the Bullet and in 1985 with Sovereign Don.
Formal Dinner, who will carry 115 pounds and jockey Jose Santos, set a track record for 5 1/2 furlongs at Churchill Downs 1:04:2 in a nine-length victory.
