One man was killed and another was injured during two separate but possibly related attacks near a city park Monday night, police said.
The slain man, identified by the coroner’s office as Andres de la Cruz Casillas, 28, died of stab wounds at the UC San Diego Medical Center shortly after 7:30 p.m., police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Casillas was attacked at Memorial Park, a recreation area at 30th Street and Ocean View Boulevard, Robinson said.
“A second stabbing victim was admitted to San Diego General Hospital at about the same time,” Robinson said.
That victim, whose identity was not released, had also been attacked in the vicinity of the park, Robinson said.
Police believe that the stabbings are connected, and an investigation into both cases is continuing, Robinson said.
