LOCAL : Officer Found Shot to Death
A police officer was found dead in his home, apparently the result of a suicide, authorities said today.
The body of Officer Sean Leahy, 29, was discovered Wednesday morning by fellow Rampart Division officers who went to his Rowena Avenue home to check up on him after he failed to report to work for two days.
Leahy apparently died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, coroner’s spokesman Bob Dambacher said. An autopsy was pending.
Leahy was last seen alive at 4:15 p.m Saturday when he left the Rampart station after his shift, Dambacher said. After he failed to report for work for two scheduled shifts, patrol officers were sent to his home to make a check.
