Tim Walsh; AIDS Patient Recently Profiled by Magazine

Tim Walsh, one of five AIDS patients profiled in the Aug. 12 issue of Los Angeles Times Magazine, died at home Monday after battling the disease for almost three years.

Walsh, 27, of West Los Angeles, had deteriorated rapidly after granting a final interview for the article, “To Live and Die in L.A.: the Crisis in AIDS Care.”

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Westlake Village, followed by burial at Inglewood Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Roxbury Park in Beverly Hills.

Walsh is survived by his longtime companion, Ron Suttora, of West Los Angeles, who also was featured in the article; his mother, Bonnie Walsh; his father, Pat Walsh; his stepmother, Stephany, four sisters and a brother.

Walsh is the second subject of the article to die. Kimon Beazlie, who appeared on the cover of the magazine, died of AIDS on Aug. 13.
