Benjamin Brenner of Reseda, a retired real estate broker, has died in Woodland Hills. He was 79.

Born in Samarkand, Russia, Brenner died Friday of pneumonia, said Mae Brenner, his wife of 54 years. Brenner came to the United States with his family in 1913 and settled in Detroit. He and his two brothers owned three markets, Brenner Brothers Markets, from the early 1930s until 1946, when he moved to Los Angeles with his young family. He opened two markets, Foodlane Market in Culver City and Sunnyside Market in West Los Angeles, which he sold in 1960.

He began investing in real estate in the late 1950s and in 1965 became a licensed real estate broker with Staples Real Estate in Culver City. Brenner worked with various real estate companies in Los Angeles County.
