Beaten Body of Man Found in Saugus Field
The body of a 31-year-old man who had apparently been beaten to death was found Thursday morning near California 126 in Saugus, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
Farm workers saw the body, which was covered by blankets, at 7 a.m. in a field near Indian Dunes, but thought the man was sleeping, Deputy Rich Erickson said.
“At about 11 a.m. they noticed he hadn’t moved and called the Sheriff’s Department,” Erickson said.
The cause of death had not been determined, but it appeared that the man died of head trauma, Erickson said. “It looked as though he had been in some type of fight.”
The name of the victim was not released pending notification of relatives.
