BREA : Youth Is Stabbed at Party; Man Arrested

Share

A young man was stabbed three times at a party early Sunday, apparently for playing the residents’ piano.

The 17-year-old, whose name wasn’t released because of his age, was attending a party and playing the piano at about 12:45 a.m. when he and another man began to argue and he was stabbed, Police Lt. Bill Lentini said. Police said they think that the suspect, James Slaven, 22, lived at the home on Puente Street south of Imperial Highway or was a relative of the residents and was trying to protect the piano.

Friends took the victim to another house, where they called police. One of the friends led officers back to the party and identified Slaven as the attacker, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was taken to Orange County Jail, where bail was set at $10,000.
