Tony Fernandez hit the Blue Jays’ first home run in 11 games, a three-run shot, as Toronto snapped a five-game losing streak today and beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3.

Toronto had scored only four runs during the streak, falling from one game behind the first-place Boston Red Sox to six games back before today.

Jimmy Key (9-6) scattered six hits, striking out six and walking none in six innings. Duane Ward pitched three innings for his 10th save.

Paul Molitor, who singled and scored an unearned run in the first, hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Molitor also doubled in the third to go 3-for-4.

Mark Knudson (10-7) gave up eight hits and six runs in just 3 2/3 innings for Milwaukee.

Fernandez’s homer sparked a five-run Toronto fifth.

Greg Meyers singled and Junior Felix doubled before Manny Lee singled, scoring them. After Mookie Wilson doubled, Paul Mirabella relieved Knudson. Fernandez hit Mirabella’s second pitch over the right-field fence.
