A 21-year-old Burbank man was shot and critically wounded in what investigators believe was a gang-related drive-by shooting in Van Nuys, Los Angeles police reported Friday.

Eric Castillo was shot once in the chest about 11:30 p.m. Thursday while standing next to his car near Victory Boulevard and Ethel Avenue, police said.

The victim had been driving with a woman, who was not identified, when he stopped to adjust a headlight on his car, Detective Ernie Guzman said. Another car drove by and shots were fired. The woman, who had remained in Castillo’s car, was not injured.
