The agent for unsigned New York Giant linebacker Lawrence Taylor said he has opened negotiations with the Houston Oilers and Philadelphia Eagles on trade possibilities.
Joe Courrege told KRIV-TV that George Young, the Giants’ general manager, had given him permission to talk to other clubs about Taylor.
The Giants have offered Taylor a $4.5-million contract over three years. Taylor is believed to be seeking about $6 million over three years.
In Houston, Oiler running back Alonzo Highsmith said that he will not suit up for today’s exhibition against the Dallas Cowboys and expects to be traded.
Highsmith, who underwent knee surgery during the off-season, has been slowed by a foot injury.
