Three Los Angeles men remained in custody Sunday after a violent brawl that erupted during a birthday party at an Inglewood hotel Saturday night, leaving one party-goer dead.

Arrested on suspicion of attempted murder were Michael Keith Williams, 20, his cousin, Marcus Williams, 21, and Delton Prescott, 24, Inglewood police said.

Police said guests at the Days Inn Park Plaza Hotel, located across the street from the Forum, became virtual hostages in their rooms after a rap music party ended with rampaging party-goers engaging in a running gun battle.

Two men were wounded in a shoot-out that began in the ballroom and ended in the parking lot. In the panic that ensued, Roderick Williams, 22, of Los Angeles was killed when he was hit by a fleeing car, police said. The three men arrested are not suspects in the hit-and-run, police said, adding that they are still seeking the driver of the car.

Prescott was in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail after treatment at a local hospital for a wound on his hand and the other two suspects were being held in Inglewood City Jail, Lt. David Garza said. Bail had not been set, he said.

The disturbance began about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when a fight broke out during the rap party that doubled as a birthday celebration for one of the guests, police said.
