From staff and wire reports

A convention of B’nai B’rith International in Dallas recently amended the group’s constitution to allow women to be admitted as members of the Jewish service organization.

A women’s affiliate, B’nai B’rith Women, had threatened to break away from the central organization unless B’nai B’rith dropped its restriction limiting membership to men.

Seymour D. Reich, president of B’nai B’rith, said women may now be full and equal partners with men in the organization and are eligible for offices at all levels.
