Comic Relief: Steve Martin, comedian, actor and filmmaker, is preparing to ship out to Saudi Arabia on a goodwill mission. The USO says Martin and his wife, actress Victoria Tennant, will travel to the region in early October to visit land- and ship-based troops. Not billed as a concert tour, the visit is designed to allow the couple to greet as many men and women as possible, according to the USO. Said Martin, “Any vacation that promises sea, sand and poisonous snakes is the one for me.”
