After a two-day search, the body of a man who drowned at Castaic Lake was found by divers Tuesday near where he reportedly jumped from a rowboat and disappeared.
The body of the 37-year-old Bell Gardens man, whose name was not released pending positive identification by coroner’s investigators, was discovered at noon in 40 feet of water about 800 feet east of swimming beaches, said Brian Roney, assistant superintendent of the lake.
About 12 lifeguard divers were hampered in their search because murky waters provided only about five feet of visibility, Roney said.
The man had been drinking beer with a friend in the rented rowboat before he jumped into the lake about 5 p.m. Sunday.
Sheriff’s officials said the man had jumped into the water before and was warned not to do so again.
Swimming at the lake is allowed only in designated areas.
