SAN JOSE — The Sharks will hit the ice next year, becoming the first major-league team from San Jose, team and city officials announced today.
The Sharks will play the first two years at the Cow Palace in Daly City, just south of San Francisco, until San Jose’s downtown arena opens in October of 1993.
The deal, which is to become final with a City Council vote in the next two weeks, would bring the city from $20 to $30 million in revenues during the life of the contract, officials said.
