Biv DeVoe Back in Top 5

Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press.

Fueled by the hot single “Do Me”--No. 3 on the Billboard pop singles chart--Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison” album crept back into the pop Top 5, at No. 5. Not bad for an album that’s been around for more than six months. But of course, not quite as impressive as M.C. Hammer’s “Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em,” which has been out a month longer and continues to top the chart. Living Colour’s “Time’s Up” jumped from No. 82 to No. 18 in its second chart week. But Prince’s “Graffiti Bridge”--No. 6 after three weeks--is still the hot new album. Roger Waters’ “The Wall--Live in Berlin” debuted at No. 59.

* Queensryche, the Seattle hard-rock band, entered the chart at an astonishingly high No. 35 with its fourth album, “Empire.” Is this band really that popular? We’ll see in a few weeks.
