SIMI VALLEY : 8-Year-Old Girl Dies After She Is Hit by Car While Bicycling
An 8-year-old Simi Valley girl was struck and killed by a car Saturday night as she rode her bicycle across Royal Avenue at Carson Street, authorities said.
Vanessa Dezubiria was pronounced dead at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital from extensive injuries received in the 6 p.m. accident, Police Sgt. Jeff Malgren said.
The child was riding her bicycle north on Carson when she was hit by a car being driven west on Royal by Phillip Madsen, 44, of Moorpark, Malgren said. Madsen passed all sobriety tests and was released pending further investigation, Malgren said.
