SIMI VALLEY : 46 Apply for School Superintendent Post

Share

Following a search by a private consultant, 46 people applied for superintendent of the Simi Valley Unified School District by Monday’s deadline.

The candidates, all superintendents or assistant superintendents, will compete for the job vacated when Supt. John Duncan left Friday to become head of the San Ramon Valley School District in Northern California. The post, which pays about $96,900 a year, is being filled temporarily by Associate Supt. Cathi Vogel.

Leland Newcomer, hired in July to look for a new superintendent, said he was pleased with the number of applications, which were still arriving late Monday. Most of the applicants are Californians, including some current district employees, he said. He declined to release their names.

A final decision is expected by mid-October.
