Burbank Airport Gets $9.6-Million Grant
The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority accepted a $9.6-million federal grant Monday to buy firefighting equipment, to improve security at the airport and to buy 18 acres next to the runways to enhance safety.
The land to be acquired will widen the buffers along the north-south and east-west runways, said Burbank Airport spokesman Victor J. Gill.
The airport authority applied for the Federal Aviation Administration in March, he said, and FAA approval was announced several weeks ago.
