Bell : $6.4-Million Science Lab at High School Dedicated
After three years of delays, officials at Bell High School and several cities in the area this week dedicated the high school’s new $6.4-million science building.
The Mary Ann Sesma Science Building is a two-story complex with eight fully equipped science classrooms, teacher and student cafeterias, a covered pavilion area and a student store. There are 11 classrooms in the building, school officials said.
Assistant Principal Liz Giffen-Glad said the 43,171-square-foot building is a drastic improvement over the 60-year-old science facilities it replaces. In the past, the school of 3,800 students had only one fully equipped chemistry lab that was shared by all science teachers. The new building has two chemistry labs, two physics labs and several physical science labs, she said.
