An apparently drug-related shooting left one man dead and another man injured in Southeast San Diego, police said Wednesday.

Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to 29th Street and Imperial Avenue, where they found a man shot in the head lying dead in a gutter, Lt. Dan Berglund said.

The victim was identified as Frank Eli Heard, 24, of Southeast San Diego.

About a quarter of a block away, another man was found with gunshot wounds to his chest and leg.

Victor Corder, 26, also of Southeast San Diego underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition Wednesday at UC San Diego Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Three men apparently confronted the two, who were standing next to a car on 29th just north of Imperial and got into an argument, Berglund said. The three drew guns and started shooting.

Corder, wounded, ran down the street. The three men beat up Heard before shooting him in the head while he was on the ground, Berglund said.

No drugs were found at the scene and the three assailants scattered in different directions after the incident.
