SIMI VALLEY : Moped Rider, 19, Critically Injured

A 19-year-old Simi Valley woman riding her moped without a helmet Tuesday night was thrown from her vehicle and critically injured when a car struck her from behind.
Michelle Glassman was in “very critical” condition at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital on Wednesday night with severe head injuries, according to a hospital spokeswoman and the police. She underwent emergency neurosurgery Tuesday night, police said.
Glassman, riding her moped east on Royal Avenue just west of Erringer Road, was struck from behind about 5:45 p.m. when she stopped to make a left turn into a private driveway, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Rex Jones said.
