Chula Vista police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in Tijuana. Police say she might have been kidnaped and killed in Chula Vista before being taken to Mexico.

Police said residents of Tijuana’s rural La Mesa area found the woman’s body off the side of a road Sept. 12.

An initial autopsy by Mexican officials showed that she had died of asphyxiation, said Lt. Dean Girdner.

The woman was later identified as 30-year-old Diane Egay Casora, who lived in the 200 block of Garrett Avenue.

Casora’s sister had reported her as missing. Her family and police were eventually able to identify Casora on Sept. 19 because family members had read a story in a Mexican newspaper about an unidentified body that had been found there, Girdner said.

A second autopsy was done Friday by the County medical examiner’s office.

Investigators said they need help finding the woman’s 1989 black, 4-door Volkswagen Jetta, which they believe is still in the United States.

The car has the license plate number 2MRC110.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 691-5202.
