Two suspects wanted in connection with the July murder of a man in a Las Vegas hotel room were arrested after being pulled over by San Diego police.

Officers Bradley Elow and Joe Steffen were en route to Imperial Beach on Interstate 5 Thursday when a Renault drove by them with mismatched license plates and doors that had the locks punched out.

After stopping the car, which turned out to be stolen, the officers ran a computer check and found out that the driver, William Troy Whalen, 23, was wanted on a murder warrant in Las Vegas, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.

Whalen gave them information that led them to an apartment in the 100 block of Ramona Street where officers arrested 25-year-old Jennifer Christine Palmer, who was also named on the warrant, Robinson said.

The two were booked into the County Jail downtown and are being held without bail, a jail spokeswoman said.

In July, the two were allegedly involved in the killing of a Texas man in room 1913 of the Union Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas, said Detective Al Leavitt of the Las Vegas Police Department.

The two, who are both from Massachusetts, had been living in the Ramona Street apartment for about two weeks prior to their arrest, Robinson said.
