From Associated Press

The home field does not seem to be much of an advantage for Syracuse this season.

The Orangemen were tied, 20-20, by No. 25 Pittsburgh Saturday at Syracuse, N.Y., the second consecutive week that Syracuse has had to settle for a draw in the Carrier Dome.

Last week, Michigan State tied the Orangemen (1-1-2) on a last-second field goal.

Pittsburgh quarterback Alex Van Pelt was the villain Saturday when he connected with Olanda Truitt on a 25-yard touchdown pass play with 1:30 left, then passed to Ronald Redmon for a two-point conversion that gave the Panthers (2-2-1) the tie.

The opportunity to tie was set up when Pitt’s Mark Gunn blocked John Biskup’s point-after kick for Syracuse, and Doug Hetzler returned the ball 90 yards to give the Panthers two points, making it 20-12.
