Even though UCLA lost to Michigan, 38-15, Saturday, quarterback Tommy Maddox had some impressive statistics.

The redshirt freshman, starting for the first time, completed 26 of 47 passes for 353 yards.

The yardage was the second-highest total in UCLA history, behind Steve Bono’s 399 yards passing against Brigham Young in 1983.

UCLA wide receiver Scott Miller, linebacker Rocen Keeton and defensive tackle Brian Kelly, all injured, aren’t expected to play Saturday against Washington State, although there is a possibility that Miller might play.

UCLA Coach Terry Donahue said that wide receiver Paul Richardson is still bothered by an ankle injury. However, strong safety Matt Darby, who missed the Michigan game with a shoulder injury, and nose guard Garrett Greedy, who has also been injured, are expected to play.
