John J. Turley; Retired Truck Driver

John J. Turley, a retired truck driver, has died at his Northridge residence. He was 66.

Turley died Monday of a heart attack, said his wife, Zora Turley.

Born Feb. 2, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he served in a field artillery battalion in the Army during World War II. After he was discharged, he moved to California and began working in 1948 for Consolidated Rock Products in Sun Valley, where he drove a mixer truck until his retirement in 1987.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years; sons Paul Turley of Northridge and Richard Turley of Gresham, Ore.; daughter Florence Welcome of La Pine, Ore.; brothers Robert Turley and Thomas Turley of San Francisco, and Joseph Turley of Everett, Wash., and six grandchildren.

A vigil is planned for 7 tonight at Bastian & Perrott Mortuary, 18728 Parthenia St. in Northridge, which is handling the arrangements. A funeral Mass is scheduled to be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 9800 Canby Ave. in Northridge. Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills.
