Former welterweight contender Randy Shields made a comeback with a 10-round unanimous decision over Stewart Baynes of Pasadena in a non-title junior-middleweight fight at the Country Club in Reseda.
Shields, 34, of North Hollywood, had been inactive for more than seven years. His last fight was Feb. 19, 1983, against Johnny Bumphus.
Shields’ only anxious moment was late in the fourth round when Baynes cut him over the left eye. The scores were 99-90 by judge Dick Young, 98-92 by Lou Filippo and 97-93 by Gwen Adair.
