Palmdale Will Race in Gateway to Glory
Palmdale, trained by Bill Shoemaker, returns to Fairplex Park on Thursday afternoon when he heads a full lineup of 2-year-olds in the $53,900 Gateway to Glory Stakes at 1 1/16 miles.
In his first start for Shoemaker, Palmdale handled the tight turns of Fairplex like a pro and drew off to win the Beau Brummel Stakes on Sept. 14. That was a 6 1/2-furlong dash, but the manner in which he won and the running style exhibited in his earlier races indicates that the son of Dance Bid can handle the middle distance.
Corey Nakatani returns aboard Palmdale, who breaks from the nine post under high weight of 117 pounds.
